Pookkottukavu Grama Panchayath

1. Grama Panchayat Office
Located in the heart of the Valluvanadan cultural tradition and rural agricultural sector in Palakkad district, the history of Pookkottukavu Grama Panchayath is a fine example of local governance and development. The area, which was part of the erstwhile Malabar District, was formed after independence by merging agricultural villages such as Kalluvazhi, Munnoorkode, Punjapadam and Kattukkulam. This fully digitized office has received ISO certification and the Ardram Kerala Award.
2. Govt. Ayurvedic Dispensary
Pookottukavu, Kattukulam and Srikrishnapuram have been the places of tradition of renowned Ayurvedic folk healers and mystics since ancient times. In the past, herbal medicines, poison treatment, and conservation of medicinal plants based on Kavu were active here under the leadership of the famous Pariyanampatta Mana and local landlord families.
3. Govt. Homeopathic Dispensary
GHSS has been set up in Munnoorkode to provide free homeopathic treatment along with allopathy and ayurveda to the common people. It was set up near Munnoorkode. After 2008-09, its activities were expanded with the funds of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and the National AYUSH Mission.
4. Family Health Centre (FHC)
The institute started functioning as a primary health centre (PHC) in 1978 and expanded its operations by constructing a new two-storey building in October 2020. In the first phase of the Ardram Mission, it was upgraded to a 'Family Health Centre'. Modern facilities such as a lab, pharmacy, triage, OP rooms, observation room, vaccination center and palliative care are available here.
5. Krishi Bhavan
Krishi Bhavan was sanctioned here in 1987 for the benefit of farmers. This office plays a major role in making barren land cultivable, promotion of organic farming, linking MGNREGA with agriculture, and transparent delivery of pensions and insurance to farmers.
6. Govt. Veterinary Hospital
It serves as a major shade for dairy farmers and pet lovers in the area. Its activities are linked to the Emergency Night Veterinary Service at the block level in Srikrishnapuram for major emergency surgeries and night shift needs.
7. V.E.O. (VEO) Office
He plays an important role in preparing the development projects of the Panchayat and convening the Gram Sabhas. Functioning inside the Panchayat office complex, this fully computerized office is taking the rural benefits of the government to the people.
8. Kudumbashree CDS Office
Since its formation in 1998, women's neighbourhood groups have been coordinating and working together. The office serves as a great socio-economic base for the women of Pookottukavu through tailoring units, food processing units and microfinance loan fairs.
